The 400 series uses a bulb cluster whose holders corrode over time. If a lamp is dead, check the holder and the earth line first — the cluster itself is usually fine. On the 500 series the LED module is one piece: when a single diode fails, the whole module is replaced.
On coaches whose luggage doors take knocks, the corner lugs of the lens break and the cluster works loose. A loose lamp distorts the gasket face and lets water in. Do not glue a broken lug — a leaking lamp rots the loom behind it too.
